This class will give you a short comprehensive introduction into recognizing and judging the quality of style, workmanship and materials using examples of 19th century antique jewelry. Develop your own critical and informed eye for determining quality and age in any piece of jewelry and raise your understanding of and appreciation for beauty in jewelry from any period.

The class will be taught by Anthony Kelson, noted lecturer on antique jewelry. Mr. Kelson holds an academic Master's degree in Valuation Science from Lindenwood University. He is a Graduate Gemologist and former employee of the Gemological Institute of America, the national training school for the jewelry industry. He is a graduate of Christie's Fine & Decorative Arts in London, UK; a Senior Charter Member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, and a member of the British Society of Jewelry Historians. Mr. Kelson has worked in the jewelry industry for 38 years and is currently an antique jewelry buyer for a company out of Philadelphia, PA.
